Multiple Phones

Why do people carry multiple phones? There could be quite a few reasons for that phenomenon. One mobile phone for private and one for business use. That would be the easiest explanation. Many people carry multiple devices for other reasons than just dividing private and business use for the tax.

A lot of people that carry Smartphones for Email and Internetuse, carry another Cell-Phone that is used exclusively for their phone calls. This way it is a lot easier to look up email, search for other information on the web or use the calendar while on the phone, although you could do that with a Bluetooth headset as well… The advantage probably is, that your battery is not dying on you, because you surfed the internet for so long that you now can´t make the very urgent phone call because of this.

But you can push it further than using one Cell-Phone and one “Datacentric Device”. Some people, especially Internet-Managers even use an Iphone and a Blackberry which are both considered to be Super-Smartphones (“Datacentric Devices”).

Evan Williams of Twitter obviously is one of them. Another person is Lars Hinrichs of Xing who also seems to use both.

As for myself I will stick with my stinking Nokia E50 and Twitter and phone with it until it completely breaks down.
