microblogging
microblogging services Until a few days ago I didn’t even realize, that there are so many different services for Microblogging. I thought the ones I knew before (Twitter, indenti.ca, Frazr) were already too many. Even though there are a lot of them, some of them are interesting anyways, because the functionality is not the same on all of them.
Here is a list of all microblogging services I heard about:
Twitter (of course)
Identica
Jaiku
Moodmill
Mysay
Pownce
Tumblr
Frazr (german)
I have to say, that the capabilities of Tumblr are far greater than those of typical Microblogging. A lot of Blogs are running on Tumblr (the one you read right now as well). You can add Fotos, Audio and Video and write long posts, if you want to and are able to you could also do this in html.
search in microblogging No.1 search for Twitter is Twitters own Search which is the integration of the Service “Summize” which was bought by Twitter on 15 July 2008.
Although the Summize/Twitter Search offers close to real-time results, there are some other ways to search on twitter. Two that I know of are flaptor and tweetscan
There are a lot of other Twitter-related services which I will post later on. Connections to social sites and communities, desktop-tools, Group and Company Services, mobile tools, rss imports to twitter, tools to schedule your tweets, etc.
