Why I am a Blogger

I’m a blogger because I set up this account. That´s the most boring exlanation. My true motivation for blogging is (hopefully) a bit more exciting…

I have been reading blogs on a regular basis for a few years and was fascinated by the idea from the beginning. I love technology and I love people. That´s why it was quite an intriguing concept to me, that blogs as opposed to websites do not just post information but start a conversation.

Another reason is, that I have always loved to share facts and knowledge and to learn from others.

Writing is a creative process and can help to structure ideas. It can be relaxing but can also require and promote deep thinking and reflection.

Which blogs did I read ?First without knowing I read some of the pioneers in blogging, just because they started my curiosity. e.g.

www.dooce.com

www.kottke.org

www.mattcutts.com/blog

But also some other blogs which have not quite been around since the beginning of the blogosphere

www.paulallen.net

www.bildblog.com (german)

www.lawblog.de (german)

I also like a german videoblog called

www.elektrischer-reporter.de which talks a lot about the social and technological aspects of the Internet. And some entertainment like:

www.totalblogal.net

www.boingboing.net

I guess I should use a blogroll or a social bookmarking service since there have been quite a few others which I don’t want to list for purpose of readability of this post. The impulse to get started with my own blog came a few days ago, after reading an Article by Andrew Sullivan in “The Atlantic” titled “Why I blog”.

You can find the article right here
